Unable to use Breathing Styles due to his unique physiology, Genya instead fights with guns and blades, and can temporarily gain a demon's regenerative power and enhanced senses by eating demon flesh. This grants him bursts of superhuman strength that let him go toe-to-toe with Upper Rank demons alongside Tanjiro.

Genya is tall and rough-featured, with a jagged scar across his cheek, dark purple eyes, and a black mohawk. He wears a modified dark olive Demon Slayer uniform and carries an arsenal of blades rather than a single Nichirin sword.

Genya begins as a hostile, standoffish lone wolf who rejects help from others, shaped by a traumatic childhood and estrangement from his brother Sanemi. Over time he softens slightly, showing fierce protectiveness toward his comrades even while keeping his gruff exterior.
