As the head of the Ubuyashiki family and leader of the Demon Slayer Corps, Kagaya has no combat ability himself but commands unwavering loyalty from the Hashira through his charisma and moral authority. In his final act, he masks his true intentions to lure Muzan into a trap, sacrificing himself and his estate to wound the Demon King.

Kagaya appears frail and prematurely aged due to a hereditary family curse that causes his skin to look as though it is rotting and his eyes to lose their sight. Despite his sickly body, he maintains a composed, dignified bearing befitting his position.

Calm, warm, and endlessly compassionate, Kagaya treats every Demon Slayer as one of his own children and handles criticism from his subordinates with grace. Beneath his serene exterior he conceals a lifetime of controlled fury toward Muzan Kibutsuji.
