As the Flower Hashira, Kanae was skilled enough to hold her own against Upper Rank Two, Doma, until sunrise, a testament to her considerable strength, though she was ultimately killed by him. Her perceptive intellect let her see through Doma's false kindness even as she lost her life to him.

Kanae is a slender young woman with long straight black hair and gentle pale violet eyes, notably taller than her younger sister Shinobu. She is remembered wearing an elegant, flower-patterned Demon Slayer uniform.

Warm, easygoing, and endlessly forgiving, Kanae believed demons could be redeemed and swore alongside Shinobu to end the cycle of tragedy that claimed their parents. Her gentle optimism shaped both Shinobu and her adopted sister Kanao profoundly.
