As the progenitor of all demons, Muzan possesses monstrous regeneration, superhuman strength and speed, and a Blood Demon Art that lets him reshape his own flesh into weapons, extra organs, or entirely new bodies. He can implant fragments of his own flesh into humans to create new demons or grant power to his Kizuki. His blood is the source of Nezuko's and every other demon's transformation.

Muzan typically disguises himself as an ordinary, refined human with neat black hair and pale skin, but his true demon form has ash-white skin, wavy black hair, and inhuman purple eyes with slitted pupils. His body can reshape at will, growing tentacles, extra faces, or armor-like plates when threatened. He constantly changes his human disguise's face, gender, and age to avoid detection.

Muzan is cold, arrogant, and utterly without empathy, viewing every other demon, even his own Twelve Kizuki, as a disposable tool. He is obsessed with achieving true invincibility by conquering sunlight, and reacts to failure or disrespect with instant, explosive violence. Despite his composed public face, he is deeply paranoid and short-tempered underneath.
