Ruka has black hair and dark red eyes like her sons, and appears in Kyojuro's memories as a gentle, composed woman dressed simply in keeping with the modest Rengoku household.

Warm and wise, Ruka is remembered by Kyojuro as the one who taught him his guiding principle that the strong must protect the weak. Her passing left a lasting emotional wound on both of her sons.
