Water Breathing

As the former Water Hashira, Sakonji was once among the Corps' most formidable fighters, having single-handedly captured the dangerous Hand Demon rather than killing it. Now retired, he trains new Demon Slayer candidates in Water Breathing, having mentored over a dozen students including Giyu Tomioka and Tanjiro Kamado.

Sakonji is an elderly man who always wears a tengu mask, concealing a face said to be gentle beneath it, along with a blue cloud-patterned kimono. His long career has left him with silver hair and a weathered but sturdy frame.

Stern and demanding as a trainer, Sakonji pushes his students hard and speaks bluntly about the harsh realities of demon slaying, yet he genuinely cares for each pupil he raises. His gruffness masks deep grief over the students he has lost over the years.
