Shuya had no fighting ability; as one of the youngest Shinazugawa children he depended entirely on his mother Shizu and older brothers for protection.

Shuya is a small boy with fair skin, shaved-down dark hair, and large purple almond-shaped eyes resembling his oldest brothers Sanemi and Genya. He wears a tan kimono with a two-tone black and light brown obi.

Warm and affectionate like his siblings, Shuya adored his mother deeply and eagerly ran to greet her whenever she returned home, a devotion that ultimately cost him his life.
