As chief of the Swordsmith Village, Tecchin oversees every smith under his authority and personally raised Hotaru Haganezuka after taking him in as a child. Decades of experience have made him the village's foremost authority on forging Nichirin swords.

Tecchin is a very short, elderly man, partially bald with long white hair, his face hidden behind a hyottoko mask that leaves only his wrinkled brow and neck visible. He wears a diamond-patterned kimono under a black haori marked with the kanji for chief.

Blunt and proud, Tecchin openly declares himself the most esteemed resident of the Swordsmith Village and expects due respect, yet he is quick to soften into hospitality, offering guests snacks and calling Tanjiro a nice young man.
